Jets week 9 review against the Saints

5e8c6b773a736e24410f6a70670025f5 The Jets defeated the now 6-2 Saints by the score of 26-20.

The Jets’ defense played great against the Saints. The Jets managed to pick off Brees twice and sacked him twice.  The first interception was tipped by Dawan Landry to Demario Davis and Davis pulled it in. The second interception was tipped by a receiver and the ball landed in the hands of Antonio Cromartie.

As I said in my column, one of the keys to beating the Saints was to pressure Drew Brees. The Jets in fact managed to do that despite giving up two TD’s to Jimmy Graham. In the fourth quarter, the Saints needed to convert on 4th and 19 and the Jets defense rushed Brees and made him force an incompletion.

On the offensive side, the Jets “ground and pound” game was back in action. Chris Ivory recorded 115yds and 1TD off of 18 carries. In addition to the run game Geno had 115yds and 1 run TD at the goal line.

New Jets TE’s Zach Sudfeld and Greg Salas played pretty good for their first game as a Jet. Salas had 57 yards and Sudfeld had 46 yards.

Jets now go into the bye week at 5-4 but after the bye week they face the Buffalo Bills.
