Jerod Mayo done for the season, so what does this mean for the Jets?

NFL: AUG 22 Eagles v Patriots  Patriots LB Jerod Mayo is done for the season after having surgery on his torn pectoral muscle.

The Patriots are 14th in the league in total defense and may the numbers may even get worse since Patriots DT Vince Wilfork and LB Jerod Mayo are done for the season. So what does this mean for the Jets?

The Jets haven’t really ran the ball effectively these past couple of games, with Bilal Powell’s inconsistency and Chris Ivory’s lack of touches on the football. The Jets are currently 14th in the league in rushing yards per game.

If the Jets expect to win this game they need to attack the Patriots, front line by using Bilal Powell’s power to run through defenses and his capability to rack up at least 100 yards a game.

Although Rex Ryan apparently has a plan to stop Brady on the defensive side, on the Jets offensive side, returning to the running  game should undoubtedly be a consideration.
